Letters written to anti-slavery leader George L. Stearns from other abolitionists regarding the cause, from David L. Child regarding the publication of his anti-slavery tracts which Stearns funded, and from Samuel May. Letters from Charles Sumner pertain to the politics of Reconstruction. Also, correspondence with Stearns' son Harry regarding George's trip to Kansas before the war and news of the war provided by Harry while his father was away on recruiting activities. Also, a few clippings regarding Sumner (1905-06).
